Bike Ride on Cape Cod

 

Long bike ride on Mommy's birthday.  We rode from Brewster to Eastham and back.  The heat index was over 100!  

Big Boy Bike!

Henry rode the big boy bike (w/ training wheels) for the first time today (July 9, 2013).  He was so proud of himself, he called daddy at work to tell him all about it.

York's Wild Kingdom

 

Mommy and Henry had a nice trip to York's Wild Kingdom (petting zoo and amusement park in York Maine).  We're thinking about York Beach as next year's (2014) summer vacation spot.  This park is right on the beach and it's only 30 min from our house.  Henry got to feed the deer, go on rides and most importantly eat french fries - one of the staples of his diet during this fussy eater period.

Henry and Ava in the bouncy house (with Sam and Celia) at the Alaimo's 4th of July party, with the Cady's, Ivers', Wine's, Dognazzi's, Buckley's, Blanchard's and Tavares'.  Henry had so much fun and I couldn't believe it was less than 48 hours from our nightmare trip to the emergency room at Tufts in Boston.

Very Sick Boy

It's hard to describe what we went through for a few weeks with Henry.  Monday June 24, 2013 Henry said he had a stiff knee and a pain in the back of his neck.  The next day he started running 102 degree fevers every seven hours.  This went on for ten days.

On July 1 Henry had to have his first blood draw.  He was very brave.  The poor boy got stung by a yellow jacket just as Liane and he were leaving the house to go to the Dr for the blood draw.  The redness around his eyes was an allergic reaction to the bee sting!

On July 2 Henry's temperature spiked to 104 and he ended up in the emergency room at Anna Jaques hospital in Newburyport.  In a panic they sent us to Tufts Children's hospital in Boston to see a rheumatologist.  It was a long, scary night, but Henry bounced back fast.  The fevers went away on July 4th and he was healthy as a horse.  I was shocked on July 8th to finally get the blood test results for Lyme disease .... positive.  He's on amoxcillin for three weeks.  So far (today is July 20th) he's doing great.  This picture will always remind me how sick a child can get in so brief a period of time.  The ride to Tufts was the most frightening night of my life.

Henry's Lemonade Stand - Fairway Drive

It was about a 100 degrees, but Henry insisted on doing his "lemon stand" again - on a cul-de-sac with no through traffic.  His first customers were Jessie and Paul Buckley.  They gave his lemonade the thumbs up.
